The Protecta FR Collar maintains fire and smoke resistance in fire-separating walls and floors where technical penetrations breach the construction. A split, powder-coated steel frame houses a graphite-based intumescent that expands rapidly under heat, sealing the void left as plastic pipes and combustible insulation melt away. Because the frame is split it can be fitted to existing pipework, there is no curing time, and oversized collars can be used to take smaller pipes and pipes running at 90 to 45 degrees.
